Current Responsibilities
A managing director at NorthMarq, Jim Kornick focuses on providing investment services for office and medical office properties. He has more than 25 years of real estate industry experience as a broker, developer and investor.
Past Experience
Prior to joining NorthMarq, Jim was a senior director in the Washington, D.C., office of Marcus & Millichap for three years. At M&M he focused on office investment sales in the Washington Metro area and medical office building sales nationally. He consummated transactions with a total value of more than $200 Million.
From 1991 until 2005, Jim was as an investment broker in the Mid-Atlantic Region with Transwestern Commercial Services/Carey Winston where he was a leader in the sale of investment real estate. In this role, he won numerous sales awards, including Top 20 Salesmen in the nation for Transwestern. His exceptional understanding of local land use regulatory processes was derived from his tenure as executive director of a Fairfax County, Va., economic development corporation and five years as assistant to a member of the Fairfax County, Va., Board of Supervisors and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
Professional and Community Involvement
Jim has been a speaker at The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and other national and local real estate events and is member of Northern Virginia and DC/Maryland NAIOP as well as the Healthcare Real Estate Insights Editorial Advisory Board.
His community involvement includes membership on the Children’s Hospital Corporate Leadership Council. He is also vice president of the Northern Virginia Democratic Business Council and the immediate past-president of Alexandria Country Day School.
Education
Jim received his Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University with a concentration in economics and has also done graduate work at George Washington University. He is licensed in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.
